Abstract:
- Like many other New England towns Petersham owns a poor farm which has not been needed for that purpose for many years. In 1920 the town was offered $10,000 for the 100 acres comprising the farm. They were about to accept when the suggestion was made that it might be more profitable to keep the area. After an examination it was decided to do that and the offer was rejected. The name was officially changed to "The Petersham Town Forest" and Professor R. T. Fsiher was appointed in charge.
