  • Before many questions can be answered dealing with the practice of pruning, such as the best kind of tools to use, pruning technique, the best season for pruning, etc., it is first necessary to learn the nature and extent of the factors controlling the healing over of cuts on pruned trees. This action, it would seem, has a more direct bearing on the outcome of pruning than perhaps any other factor or factors, for without a knowledge of the time required for the production of lumber free of defect, there is no possibility of gauging the ultimate financial outcome of the operation and the quailty of the final product.
