Abstract:
- This study was prepared in lieu of term examination paper for Land Use Planning Seminar, Graduate School of Public Administration, Harvard University.
- Historical data concerning factual information on the early forests in this region and their relation to farm income and sub-marginality is indead meagre. Most historical accounts are confined to ecclesiastical and personal affairs and fair to metion, other than in general terms, the natural and economic factors concerned in land settlement.
- The material in this study has been derived piecemeal from old proprietors' records and state and federal census reports covering the period from 1733 to 1930.
