- 1938 Cumulative stand record - tentative explanations and instructions regards its use; these card records are to serve two main purposes: a. to facilitate the writing of a 30-year progress report on silvicultural treatments of stands in the Harvard Forest, and b. for use as a reference guide, to make available for students as index containing the principal phases of raising a forest crop.
- 1944 Map File - List of maps, posters and research material.
- 1944 Key to Photographs and location.
- 1947 Harvard Forest Stand Records - As acting Director of the Harvard Forest, S.H. Spurr undertook to systematize and simplify the accumulated records of the Forest. With assistance of C.T. Brown, Jr, extensive field checks were made, maps standardized, and all material systematically filed. This initial organization of material was completed by the end of 1945. Experience with the records in 1946 indicated that the present map system, plantation records, and research files are satisfactory. The stand records have proven cumbersone to use. The old stand designation under which they were filed lacks continuity in the relationship of the file code to the area involved. In 1946 an entirely new system of referencing stand records was evolved by Spurr, Rose and Brown. The system was approved by H.M. Raup, Director. The revision of 1947 involves only that portion of the record system known currently as the Stand Records.
