- Description of the area that was thinned during November and December 1948. Field work consisted of examining the stumps of the trees after the present thinning and determining the age at stump height. The old stumps of the preceding cutting were observed and in some cases a sample collected although this was difficult in most cases where a closer examination was necessary due to the frozen condition of the stumps. Conclusions that from the old stumps and stump sprouts present the preceding sand is indicated as Pine-Hardwood with the predominate hardwoods as red oak and red maple....
