- Timber has always been plentiful in this country despite the repeated warnings of the sages of the forthcoming timber famines. This has been due for the most part to the ever-changing customs of the men cutting and using the wood. It is not my premise to say that the timber supply is now exhausted or even approaching exhaustion...but the availability of large diameter material has rapidly diminished, and is now diminishing to an even lower ebb....
