- In this treatise the major forest types of China and adjacent areas are discussed. They include the montane-boreal coniferous forests of the Northeastern Provinces, Mongolia, Sinkiang, the Southwestern Plateau, the Northern Provinces and Taiwan Province; mixed northern hardwood forest and birch forest of the Northeastern Provinces; deciduous oak forests of the Northern Provinces; mixed mesophytic forest of Yangtze Valley; evergreen oak forests of the Southern and Southwestern Provinces; rain forest of Yunnan, Kwangsi, Kwangtung and Hainan; and mangroves and littoral vegetation along the coast of Fukien, Taiwan and Kwangtung Provinces.
