- In December 1992 a storm deposited 38 cm of heavy, wet snow in Petersham, MA. Wind measurements in nearby Worcester, MA were in excess of 80 km/hour. During the summer of 1993, a survey of the damage sustained from this storm was conducted on four sites: Tom Swamp Detritus Input, Removal, and Trenching (DIRT) plots; Tom Swamp Control plot; Prospect Hill Hemlock Grid [HF 1993-49] and Tom Swamp Overstory Deadening Plots.
