- Abstract:
- The research will examine seasonal and annual variation in the vertical activity of white-footed mice using a three-dimensional make-recapture (M/R) trapping study. Mice will be live trapped at three vertical strata--the ground, understory shrubs and trees, and the crowns of canopy oaks in mature oak forest in central MA. Mice also will be monitored with radio-telemery, fluorescent powder techniques, and night vision equipment to ascertain if the M/R trapping approach provides an accurate picture of vertical activity.
