- Abstract:
- The project will provide: 1. a unique inderdisciplinary examination of the factors controlling long-term vegetation dynamics and patters, 2. an understanding of pre-historical and historical vegetation, climate and disturbance dynamics that have led to the development of modern landscapes and that will be directly relevant to ecological, conservation and land management applications, 3. a comprehensive perspective on the pre-European biotic, climatic and cultural landscape that will be invaluable to a wide range of disciplines including archaeology and climatology, as well as ecology and paleoecology, and 4. data and results that will readily available in publications, presentations, and through the Harvard Forest archives and web page.
