- Abstract:
- Based on the data file previously submitted and additions as listed in Anderson et al 198, the moss flora of Massachusetts now stands at 356 species and 16 varieties. The liverworts now stand at 142 taxa with the addition of three to the list previously submitted.
- Our knowledge of the state's bryophyte flora is far from complete and efforts should be made to document the full ranges of taxa throughout the state as well as to assess the status of potentially rare taxa. This paper begins to establish the context for several taxa that either presently occur in Massachusetts, based on recent vouchered collections, or for which we have historical evidence, and that have been classified as rare by other states or agencies.
