- Abstract:
- Two winter storms in 1996-1997 deposited 51 cm (December 1996) and 41 cm (April 1997) of heavy wet snow on central Massachusetts. To investigate the impact of these storms on a pine-oak sand plain, 37 previously established plots (20 m x 20 m) in pitch pine, pitch pine/white pine/mixed hardwood, and mixed hardwood stands were sampled recording species, diameter at breast height, crown class and damage type for tree >5 cm dbh.
