- Abstract:
- About a year ago, a small collection of beavers too residence in a small swamp on the town line between Phillipston and Petersham, MA in the Harvard Forest. Here, they proceeded to build a dam on the major river which feed the swamp, flooding the area significantly. It is the purpose of this investigation to determine what effects this flooding had on the community and, if left unchecked, what might have resulted from continued beaver disturbance. By examining these effects, we begin to understand just how distruptive the presence of C. canadensis can be to New England wildlife communities.
