- Habitat of the Pileated Woodpecker, attempting to determine the preferentiality it shows toward various trees. The average diameter of trees used by the woodpecker was 37cm and the most prevalent species was white pine. Feeding trees had numerous large holes whereas roosting trees had fewer than 10 large holes that were located higher on the trunk.
