- Abstract:
- A study to quantify the devastational effects of the adelgid on Mt. Tom. The first objective was to compare recent growth in trees (tree ring width) to various levels of infestation (physical damage involving the quantity of needles). The second objective, because drought and other stresses supposedly increase the mortality ate of infected hemlocks, was to compare recent growth of adelgid-infected trees in wetlands (areas of high water table) to those in drier areas.
