- Abstract:
- Invasive species pose a threat to many types of ecosystems around the world. Most of the species that do damage are knowingly introduced by humans for agricultural, aesthetic, or commercial purposes. In order to determine if the timber plantations established in the New England region during the late 19th and early 20th centuries coincide with this pattern of dispersal into the local environment, the spread of red pine and Norway spruce from plantations was analyzed using two factors: distance from the plantation and basal diameter.
