- Abstract:
- Recent planning efforts by The Nature Conservancy to protect functional landscapes, identify priority forest blocks and develop natural dynamics silvicultural approaches emphasize natural disturbance regimes in calculating the 'minimum dynamic area' as a basis for conservation action. The proposed study will strongly complement such efforts by evaluating the ecological effects of widespread timber harvesting in the northeastern U.S. and incorporating these results into conservation planning
