- Abstract:
- According to optimal foraging theory, insects should spend less time foraging on unrewarding flowers than on flowers rich in rewards. This necessitates the insects having some means to assess the rewards offered by the plant; though it may benefit the plant to confound the insects' ability to make accurate decisions. I tested some factors that may affect the decision making process of bumble bees by manipulating some floral traits commonly associated with pollinator choice.
