- Private land conservation, the creation of regional lands trusts, and the use of conservation easements have begun to emerge as popular and powerful conservation practices in Civil Code jurisdictions such as Chile, Germany and the province of Quebec, Canada. The purpose of the comparative study that we wish to pursue with a grant from DRCLAS is to better understand why and how this is happening in Chile, Germany and Quebec. We also aim to better understand what may be done to see that innovations in conservation practice, land use policy and tax policy in these three jurisdictions might be replicated elsewhere....
