- Abstract:
- The goal for this research is to transform environmental management decisions and the outcomes for communities by building an exemplary interface that integrates and tests the interactions of tools, data and people to implement a vision of blending smart elements with traditional environmental solutions for managing nutrients in a watershed ecosystem over space and time. This approach will allow our community partners to work with research team to not only assess the current inputs and status of nutrients and their consequences for the Merrimack River watershed in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, but also simulate and analyze different scenarios of future land use, atmospheric emissions and deposition, water system management and climatic conditions to inform a comprehensive environmental management plan which addresses multi-media sources and effects of nutrients.
