- Handwritten letter dated "Sept. 6" about the beauty of the Forks of Eel River in Humboldt County California, the redwoods and the birds
- The letter is addressed to Abbott Thayer ("My Dear Man"). It was forwarded to Mrs. E. T. Fisher (R. T. Fisher's mother, Nellie) in an envelope with a postmark of March 19, 1902 and a return address of M. B. Thayer, Monadnock, NH. There is a penciled note on the back of the folded letter, "for Nellie Fisher".
