- Abstract:
- Severe storm of March 8, 1931; Top of Mann Hill
- Most severe storm since 1888 in this locality. 31 cars buried in 3 to 8 feet of snow, including one bus and two tractor snow plows. Seventy five people found shelter at Wilders, Spinneys, and Wheelers, many at different places in Petersham village. Some people were unable to walk because of the severe conditions of such a terrific wind, rain, hail, and snow. Hunger and cold likewise hit many. Some were carried, and others were drawn to a place where they might find warmth and shelter.
