  • Palynology has been portrayed as a ‘blunt’ tool for reconstructing variations in arctictundra vegetation. We tested this characterization in the Arctic Foothills of northern Alaska by analysing 56 modern pollen assemblages from lakes on contrasting glaciated surfaces.
