- The role of people, fire and the natural environment in controlling the historical development and dynamics of upland oak forests is a major issues in the management and interpretation of the New England landscape. These factors are being investigated by Susan Clayden, David Foster and David Orwig on the Prescott Peninsula in the Quabbin Reservoir Reserve.
