  • Over the course of 4 days in early May 1933, the relatively new Harvard Institute of Geographical
  • Exploration (IGE), in conjunction with the U.S. Army Air Corps, undertook the 1st ever aerial photo survey of an entire
  • state, of Massachusetts.
  
  
  • The work was jointly led by aerial photographer Weld Arnold, of the IGE, and Lt. James F. Phillips, of the Army Air Corps.
