- 8 aerial photos from IGE 1938 aerial survey and other undated aerials: No. H38-M-26, No. H38-M-27, Nos. 33-38 (6 copies) - 15.5" x 19.5".
- The edges of a few of the wedge-shaped image photographs have some slight curling, but it does not affect the aerial image. There are some pencil notations indicating locations on some of the photographs.
- Abstract:
- Over the course of 4 days in early May 1933, the relatively new Harvard Institute of Geographical
- Exploration (IGE), in conjunction with the U.S. Army Air Corps, undertook the 1st ever aerial photo survey of an entire
- state, of Massachusetts.
- The work was jointly led by aerial photographer Weld Arnold, of the IGE, and Lt. James F. Phillips, of the Army Air Corps.
- The 1st federal statewide aerial survey of Massachusetts was in 1938, through the U.S. Geological Survey.
